Learning...

Knowledge and Learning are not exactly the same. Pundits and geniuses will argue about this definition till the end of the world. This is my definition and experience with knowledge and experience. ( disclaimer: If someone has the same definition, similarities and exactness, it is not plagiarism or copyright violations on my part. You probably read this article. Copying this will flatter my intellectual "superiority". )

Love of knowledge and learning. Aristotle said,
(paraphrased) that the motivation of "men" to seek knowledge is motivated by sex, power and wealth. I vehemently disagreed with his sweeping generalization of motivation to seek knowledge. In ancient Greece perhaps many of Aristotles' predecessors and contemporaries are motivated by the above - sex, wealth and power.
B.Madoff the convicted"ponzi" schemer was obviously motivated by wealth and power, I think B. Madoff was not pursuing knowledge but ____?
We can interview him in jail. The disgraced Richard Nixon sought power at all cost that consequently cost his presidency. The late President John Kennedy was having sex with women either attracted to him or _____? Was he a sex addict ? Was he pursuing knowledge ? Was he pursuing _____? An assasin bullet cut him short. As a small child in the early sixty I heard good things about the late JFK. They made a few enemy in their lifetime perhaps because of what they did or _______?  Before going all over the place I will go back to our subject, learning.

Learning ? What do you understand about learning ? How do you learn ? What is learning ?
Is learning the same with knowledge pursuit ? Is learning will undo the secret of life ? Will learning make you happy ? Will learning make you rich ? What do you think about learning ?

America...United States yet divided still ?

The event in other countries and wars we have fought in lands beyond our borders proved one thing - We are not united in a war that other Americans believed a necessary evil to tackle and participate in the interest of our democratic ideals and supremacy ? The Afghanistan "killing" of innocent civilians like children and women proved that bloody confrontations brought anguished and anger...then hate. I never believed in war because you destroy not build (should I make an exception with World War II ? My country was literally decimated when the Japanese attacked our capital cities and destroyed 300 years of history. Millions of my people were killed either as a result of war or the consequences of war like famine and diseases.
I traveled in many parts of the world and many people articulated that they donot like Americans because they are arrogant ( They thought I was not an American because I was not "white".). I became an instant apologist and defender of those Americans  I know ( my friends )...humble and hardworking. Indeed I murmured to myself, " America is really divided." The good Americans and the "ugly" picture of the other Americans who believed, that there arrogance and pride will change the world. What do you think ?

History and Pessimism

If you read and internalized much of the human history it is filled with sufferings and sadness. You begin to ask if learning history is worth it. The pessimism you cannot repress. Our country today is in another juncture in history. The history again recording the pessimism of the past wherein anguish and sufferings of the multitude of people is being discussed and projected. Perhaps history was written to remind us that the pessimism will continue to haunt us...because we really never learn and apply those pessimism to our present lives; Or we really never learn to move on and correct our shortcomings. Pessimism is here to stay. Optimism seems a show or a performance because behind those smiles and optimism, a lingering question nagging us like an aching tooth, when is it going to stop ?
